The Beginning

This is where it all starts. A poor neglected 1983 Porsche 944 sitting in a garage without moving for at least 5 years.

I have no idea of the history of the car other than it supposedly had an engine rebuild before entering the garage, the standard to which this was done I have no idea but a nice collection of oil on the side of the engine does not fill me with confidence.

Following are some pictures of the car in its current state. The exterior of the car looks generally quite good apart from the supermarket scars, broken aerial, deadlocks, dull paint and broken windscreen. The interior is a different story with no expenses spared on the fittings including a brass door hinge holding the throttle pedal in place down to the ripped mouldy interior with switches which have fallen off and strange wires dangling from the dashboard. Even the best parts of the interior are not looking great.

First thing to do when I pick the car up is to give a proper inspection of the mechanicals to see exactly what needs replacing to get it through an MOT and make sure nothing goes bang.

After the inspection it will be time to replace the timing and balance belts, fluids, filters and flexible brake hoses.

I'm sure this is where it would come in handy if I was actually a mechanic but a steep learning curve is a good way to learn I'm sure!
